Jump Start Your Savings with ABLE United & Enter to win $1000 deposit

FSACentral Staff

Florida residents with disabilities can build savings and keep their federal benefits by opening an ABLE United account – and individuals who open their ABLE account in November and December 2017 will be automatically entered to win a $1,000 account contribution.

ABLE United will be conducting a webinar for FL SAND members November 13 at 6 PM (EST) -- but all self-advocates and their providers and parents are welcome! Register using the link at the bottom of this article.

To be eligible for this savings account, an individual must be a Florida resident and have a qualifying disability, with onset of that disability occurring prior to age 26. Savings accrued in an ABLE United account can be used toward a wide range of qualifying expenses, such as housing, healthcare, education, transportation, employment training, and other basic living expenses.

Similar to a Roth IRA or a 529 college savings plan, an ABLE United account allows individuals to increase their savings through tax-free growth. The individual owns the account, but an authorized person may establish and help oversee the account. Family and friends can be invited to contribute.

There is no minimum contribution to open an account, and enrollment is free. Accounts can be opened online in a process that takes only 15 minutes. Open an ABLE United account HERE by December 31, 2017, and you will be entered to win a $1,000 contribution to your new ABLE United account.

As a partner of ABLE United, FL SAND receives additional funding when a member of our organization opens an account – so when you sign up, you’re not only saving for the future, but you’re benefiting FL SAND. This additional funding allows us to better serve you!

What better way to start your savings plan than with a little bit of help? It’s our gift to one lucky winner! To review the full content rules, click here.
