Self-Advocates Will Be Charting their Future at 7th Annual FL SAND Conference

FSACentral Staff

Florida Self-Advocates Network'D -- or FL SAND -- has declared "Ridin' the Wave of the Future" as the theme of the 7th Annual FL SAND Conference, which will be January 25-27, 2019, at the Florida Hotel and Conference Center at the Florida Mall in Orlando.

"Ridin' the Wave of the Future" conveys the excitement and urgency with which FL SAND members and supporters will tackle plans for its future and long-term sustainability via business meetings, planning sessions, and special training at the conference. FL SAND's conference planning committee is working to put together an exciting and educational slate of programs, exhibits, and social activities. The group will also be working on its 2019 legislative priorities at the conference in anticipation of Florida's 2019 legislative session that begins in March next year. Check out all the festivities of the 2018 conference here.

All self-advocates, supporters, and allies in Florida are invited to attend the conference, regardless of their affiliation with FL SAND. Businesses and other partners interested in sponsoring and exhibiting at the conference should email contactflsand@gmail.com and/or consult the sponsorship packet here.

FL SAND is a network of grassroots self-advocacy groups that operate in local communities around the state. It exists to support local advocacy efforts and provide a united voice for statewide issues and topics that are important to self-advocates and all persons with disabilities in Florida. FL SAND's 17 local groups are all led by self-advocates and operate independently of provider organizations.

Registration will open in the fall. Check back for updates on the 2019 conference here at FSACentral.org or FLSAND.org.
