The Florida Developmental Disabilities Council is accepting nominations for two advocacy awards: the Idelio Valdes Leadership and Advocacy Award and the first-ever Bobbie Lake Family Member Leadership and Advocacy Award. Nominations are due February 24.

The Idelio Valdes Leadership and Advocacy Award is given annually to an individual with a developmental disability who has been actively involved in self-advocacy at the grassroots and/or state level for at least two years and has worked to forge community partnerships.

The Bobbie Lake Family Member Leadership and Advocacy Award recognizes family members that are committed to advocating and/or serving in leadership roles for Floridians with developmental disabilities and their families.

Nominations for both awards should be forwarded to the FDDC by February 24 at 5pm. Find more information about the award and nomination process here.

Both awards will be announced March 10 prior to Developmental Disabilities Awareness Day at the State Capitol.
